White interiors are the standard of choice for production painters who know that almost all light reflects from a white surface. Because of this many wall imperfections will be invisible until an attempt is made to introduce color. Flat smooth walls are becoming rare today as they require more labor to produce and finish. Even light color tones will illuminate sloppy finish work.
