The Fish Tales Show 2011 - 2012
Many fish colloquialisms are buried in language and tradition. Legends around the planet have them singing, talking and interacting with man, granting wishes or imparting knowledge. Fish are used symbolically in religious, historical and native spiritual concepts worldwide. Fish have made a significant imprint on our collective psyche as well as being one of the major food sources on the planet. Fish are entwined both mentally and physically with social and individual relevance. This immense treasure trove of history and folklore provides source material for my aquatic cartoons.
The Images Part 1
An almost chronological order of works to follow. This early phase of Fish Tales is defined by old school physical manipulation of media. Meaning brushes and paint for color, ink & paper used in a strictly camera-ready B&W format.

Part 1 as you can see by the dates above documents work from the late 20th Century. In our contemporary society where history is more of a trend than a reality and so twenty minutes ago, I hope you can endure more.
Part 2 illustrates the progression and integration of the conceptual with the virtual canvas. Be aware that as this show was concieved for a student audience I have tried to make it instructive if not educational. Once I became familiar with the digital tools I was able to get beyond just coloring and begin creating.
